My dad passed away last Thursday so this is as far as I got in making this week’s recipe. Pineapple upside down cake.
Aileen learns to make a new recipe every week. Most recipes are ones she’s been meaning to make for years, but never got around to. Join in by making the one Aileen makes, or dig in to your own personal catalog of aspirational recipes.
I am not dodging the recipe challenge so much as cleaning out my cabinets. I have two boxed brownie mix and I don’t want to have to throw them out because I am making only cake.
And I wanted brownies. Read more
This week’s recipe challenge is brought to you by friend of the blog and, come to think of it, friend to pretty much the entire world, Mollie! I was dragging my feet on making the cake and Mollie came over with our friend Audrey to eat soup and spend time together and seemed very interested in making the cake. I, being a good and generous and lazy friend, stepped aside to allow Mollie the joy of making the almond cake all on her own. Read more
Last night as I was making coffee cake, I was congratulating myself on finally keeping up with the recipe challenge. And then I realized that the recipe challenge has devolved into cakes and cocktails. And then I was fine with it. Is there anything Contessa Garten can’t do? This Long Island Iced Tea recipe creates a delightful alcohol bomb that is easy to make. We left out the gin because gin makes me crazier than usual.
Felicia also doesn’t drink gin because she says it makes her feel weird but when we did some quick (and sober) research all we found was that gin is flavored vodka and there is no reason for it to make us any weirder. We decided the internet was a disaster of lies and left the gin out, just to be safe. Read more
It’s a week late, but the food we ate while getting out the vote is still worth sharing. Enjoy!
Burritos! Donuts! Ice Cream! Asian Fusion! And that was just Saturday.
We had some very good food while in the Fresno area and we would like to share some of it with you. Read more
